Nasty Rattle...need some help
Alright, i got a 99 LS...Dc header, Greddy cat back...and when im driving for the first 5 min or so...before the pipes warm up and start to expand its cool. But after that when it is warm i hear this nasty rattle as im coming to a stop and accelorating. So i was thinking my heat shield above my Cat is against the piping so i take it off, go for a drive and its still rattling, and it sounds like its comming from the back where the passanger seats are. and i looked underneath and i still couldnt really tell what was making the noise.
Any suggestions?
TIA
oh yeah....should i put my heat shield back on? cause it was a bitch to take off?

Re: (13secVTEC)
sounds like somthin i might have.... i think imma just take it to the shop, it almost sounds as if its coming from the resinator? because all of the heat shields from the cat back are tight and not loose, so i doubt thats the rattling.

Re:
check the exhaust hangers also. theyre known to do that.
you may want ot get new stiffer hangers , theyre a couple of dollars each.
itll stop your exhaust from rattling. or hitting the under-carriage of the car.

Also make SURE that it's not the cat making the noise... cats can cause rattles like mad when they are falling apart. (I know from PLENTY of experience here...) Sometimes it's hard to tell exactly where the sound is coming from so you may want to just make sure it's not the cat.

^^^My guess. You have either an internally blown catalytic converter, or your exhaust hangers are hitting something.

I heard those types of Problems are warrented by the manufactuere for up to one year and some times 5. Check with them or give them hell about it and they should replace it.
Refering to the Apex N1 internal rattle problems.
Mine also has that problem but its a generic cheap loud exahust that sound like rocks in a tin can.

Re: (Sweetsystem)
i know exactly what your talking about... on the rear of my g2 it did the same.. after much headache.. i went and bought new hangers and it raised the xhaust up a tad.. and it stopped... my guess was it was rubbing on the chasis where the b-pipe and rear section connect over the rear arms.

same prob here on my DA..I plan to get new hangers next week. rattling only started when it got cold though...I guess the weather fucked with the rubber hangers somehow.

Re: (DA-MAX)
i had a rattling problem when i had my greddy sp. Found out that the resonator was going bad so i had to weld a pipe in place of it. Rattling problem was fixed! So check on that and also if your axle back portion is hitting the rear sway
