Default Missing something, doing compression test?

Did a compression test on my b20z2
compression should be 178psi minimum 135
28psi can be difference in between cylinders

ran car till all warmed up, took out 15 amp fuse for gas, and distributor connection...
Took all spark plugs out then put tester in 1,2,3,4 cylinders

had gad pedal to the floor turned it a couple times (did it alone) by the way

cylinder 1 - 135
cylinder 2 - 130
cylinder 3 - 128
cylinder 4 - 129

whyy?thats under the minimum not even one its all four,, just want to know what can cause this

well they're all with in 5-7 psi of each other so I wouldn't worry too much engine is just old you can do a wet test also...

Cylinder 1: dry, 135 ; wet 150
Cylinder 2: dry, 128; wet 148
Cylinder 3: dry, 135; wet 145
Cylinder 4:dry,130; wet 145

did test today, would I lose compression by having 2 breather filters? On valve cover and the nipple of the intake

you can do it with the VC off and it won't make a difference. even tho that wouldn't be smart. imo the jump could have been worse the next thing you can do is a leakdown test but as I said earlier the engine is just old

gauge is off or you used an adapter tube on a gauge not designed for it

unless it's a positive seal gauge calibrated for it don't use those adapter tubes for DOHC engines, screw the hose direct. those tubes drop you random lbs of compression. 50-60-70lbs not unheard of

Not that it would make much difference, but make sure you doing the test with the throttle body open.
