I bought some dropzone stuts and coliovers and spent all day with a tech at my shop trying to put them on but every time we lower the lift and put the car down the shock pistons go up through the engine bay a couple inches (all 4 of them)

Anyone know what we're doing wrong???

blown shock? try and put pressure on it so it doesnt come up. its very easy to do suspension

 

You didn't assemble the upper mounts correctly and/or have some washers missing.

Make sure that you didn't leave out part #15 in this diagram:

 

Thanks for help guys. Targa do you happen to have a parts list for that diagram? I can' tell what washer that is or what part 16 is, o rings maybe? Thanks!

my bud came over to lower his car today. his bolts were all messed up. he didnt PB blast them. the lca bolt came off good, but the rear camber bolt broke. so he drove 200kms back home with no lca bolt holding the strut in place and he didnt put back on the two bolts in the trunk.

NO bolts holding the strut.

 

You should have re-used the upper mounts and all related hardware from your stock coilover assemblies.

Part number 16 is the bump stop.

 

My strut has broke through the top hat and hitting the strut bar. I got two new top plates from the dealership for 49.13 ( thats number 9 ). Im gonna change my struts and shocks next weekend to see if it rides any better.
