Default header installation

ok i ordered my helms manual today but i got the next to days off and a mig header sitting in my room and not under my hood. so i got a couple questions.

what is the torque pressure for the bolts that connect the header to the head.

any special things to know about installing on a 98gsr...o2 sensors are both on cat converter so hopefully don't have to disconnect them to move the cat...thanks for listening. and info

I dont recall the torque specs for the bolts all i did was when i took them off kinda took note of how tight they were and put them back on about as tight... worked for me.

Torque the nuts to 23 lbf/ft. As far as the cat goes, you can probably just leave it connected at the rear flange. If you do disconnect this then support it so it doesn't dangle from the O2 sensor connectors. Good luck.

Don't go crazy, just stick with 23, and do them in a crisscross pattern starting from the inners as always.

The header to the cat is spring loaded. If you crank them till they break you deserve the associated headaches.

Be careful with the donut gasket on the header at the cat...they're around $20 new at the dealer...what a rip.

Yeah, sometimes people take this out and forget to put it back in. Don't do that

did it yesterday morning...the power through the band is so much smoother..looks nicer too...didn't know i had a rusted piece underneath that heat shield. the only problem i had was i stripped the collector bolt off the old header and couldn't get it off so i had to pull the header off the studs and drop it down in one piece instead of two pieces. I like the one piece designs. Thanks for everyones speedy information makes a big difference. also those spring bolts on the cat are a pain in the ars. gotta love channel locks.

i don't have a small c clamp, i usually have to use it on the brakes and i am used to bigger cars...like a full size truck. so i just used what was handy.
