ok i just bought a 94 LS. the tranny has been having up problems while im driving...

if im driving and i try to downshift it will basically lock me out of any gears, unless i revmatch and push pretty hard on the shifter then it will go into gear. if i try to downshift and just push it into gear it makes a whining/slight grinding sound. also, sometimes while im just driving it will basically lock me out of the next gear too and i have to somewhat force it into gear...

suggestions?

 

ya i think that u mite have a bent shifter linkage that happened with me i bent mine wen putting in my motor and didnt know it and it was hella hard to put into gear and ya try that ....

 

Your clutch may not be fully disengaging. Can you shift gears freely when the car is not running and parked? Can you do the same when the engine is running and the clutch is depressed?

 

i can shift the gears when the car is off, and when in neutral at a stop while the car is running, it just while im moving, it sometimes does it.

also, the shifter does have more than normal side to side play in it, i think i will check for bent linkage.

 

Check you transmission fluid level.

 

im going to change it out anyway with some redline 75w-80 and a friction modifier. maybe that will help it some.
