Have you tried to just adjust the idle? Sorry to state the obvious

might seem too obvious, but have you checked the throttle cable/throttle assembly? if something is seized or not letting the slack off completely, that would explain it not going below 2500rpm..

doesn't hurt to check the basics before taking the whole damn thing apart

Check to make sure there's no air in your cooling system. 2500 sounds too high for this condition, but if you have air bubbles in your cooling system, the temp. sensor will detect cold if there's no hot water touching it. It will then keep your idle elevated. Other than that you might have an air leak someplace or a stuck throttle plate.

k, folks...this is why you don't adjust that idle screw...i know you'd probably love to do that, but you know what if the car was tuned for that and its reving that high...then there is no need. Your not fixing the problem, your causing another.

^no, sometimes that screw gets loose or out of place in time for whatever reason. theirs no harm or foul in adjusting it to the right spec that it came out of the factory, thats your own mis conception.

Try this article or the archived articles on Hondaswap.com: Eratic idle problem.

http://www.hondaswap.com/forum...29790

Might not be exactly what your prob is but it may help. I emailed the author of the article and he was very willing to help. So you may want to ask him about your problem.
