im looking into an ECU for my ride and im having a hard time with it...i plan on boosting and i want to get the most out of my tune...i do not know if i should get the stand alone or the piggy back or what...

i have picked out 3 different types of EMS or ECU and i would like to know which is the best...

Of those three listed, without a doubt I would choose the AEM. Have you also looked into other possible systems such as Neptune or the Hondata S300 unit? Those will be far less expensive than the AEM and get the job done well for you.

I think you can't go wrong with the AEM, Neptune or Crome Pro. But go with what your tuner prefers

I believe that there is a great write up on some the tuning programs on TI.

If you had to do a food chain of tuning programs from worst to best, it would look something like:
- FMU $
- VAFC $
- E-Manage $$
- S200 $$$
- Neptune, Crome Pro, S300 $$$$
- AEM $$$$$$
- Motec $$$$$$$$
- Autronics $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ haha

Basically if you were to choose between the S200 or S300, then definitely do the S300. It's all the little features that add up to making it much nicer i.e. boost controls, fuel compensation tables, USB connection, etc.

AEM is probably overkill since the other programs do a good job. I have never used Crome Pro or Neptune but I hear good things about it. I've used both the S200 and S300...and the S300 is hands down better and worth the little bit extra. All the programs from the S200 on will/should yield the same power for you. As long as you can control the fuel and ignition timing then the power is mainly up to your tuner and the parts you have.

One option you might want to consider (a cheaper alternative) is sending your stock ecu to JET. Ive used their stuff before and really liked them. They can litterally do anything you want to do. You send them your specific specs on your motor, and they customize your ecu to match your motor. Id also put on a piggyback fuel controller just in case you want to turn up the boost later.

Read the freaking article I posted, it will answer most if not all of your major concerns. As a side not going "cheaper" on your tune is probably not a great idea.
