Hey guys, I have determined that my distributor is causing the random noises that I have been getting. What exactly could be going bad? My dad and I were talking and he and I agreed that it's probably the bearing on the shaft. Does this sound right? Anyways, how much should this cost me to replace? Thanks
I had some noises coming from my distributor and I'm pretty sure replacing the rotor and the cap have completely solved it.
If thats not it I'm told you can get the housing and the bearing and reuse the internals if it turns out to be the bearing.

I heard some bearing noise from mine and I was going to replace it. I needed to use the car in the meantime, so I took the dist. out, took it apart and sprayed some wd-40 and some silicone lubricant down in the bearing. Well, its about 15,000 miles later and the dist. still sounds great with no problems. I got a new one off ebay and haven't used it yet. I'm not sure I'll need it.

Well, I have an update.
I took my Distributor off tonight and inspected it. It all seems fine. I tried Trench's idea of the silicone lube...it doesn't seem to have helped. The Dist. still makes a random sound. It sounds like something is loose inside it and is scraping as it rotates. It's also still just sporatic...it happens every once in a while. I can NOT figure out what's wrong with it.
Any more ideas?
