MIVEC timing works from start off, it doesnt activate at a certain RPM (as far as i know) VVTi doesnt kick in till past 6000rpm and redline is 7200 so it has a very short power area and leaves the car dead at lower rpms

VVT-i is variable valve timing, but no variable lift. in any case i don't know if it really works or not because my friend's 94 LS with over 100K on the clock absolutely destroyed my friend's new 00 GT. the celica GTS has the VVTL-i which is supposed to be a lot faster but i've never seen it in action myself.. anyone know the gear ratios on both of those?
