Default differences in b18a and b18b

i am thinking about geting a 91 integra ls for my next project, what are the differences between the b18a and the b18b, if i am building the bottom end, sleeving it, and top end, plus head work all for a turbo would it be better to keep the b18a or swap in a b18b? are there really any major differences? im not sure how much power i want to build it for, but i want to have respectable times out of it, i am not going to drive it every day because im getting a truck to beat around in

12 horsepower. The 91 LS has 130hp b18a and the b18b has 142 hp. If you plan on turbo and are gonna build up the engine like you said than keep the same engine and rebuild it. They are basically identical except for slightly larger lobes on the cams and better air flow characteristics. But if you are gonna get headwork done than that won't matter. Also the compression might be slightly different but it would be negligable.

No, the b18a is rated at 140 and the b18b is 142. Where did that 130 come from, the ZC motor????

so swapping a B18A into where a B18B once resided should be straightforward with nothing funky? and the onyl difference was the head right? so if one popped a B18B head on it youd pretty much be at the same point right?

The 90-91 nonOBD B18A1 makes 130hp. The 92-93 OBD1 B18A1 makes 140hp. The 94+ B18B1's are rated at 142hp, but from 92+ everything is very similar. The intake manifold is different in 94+, the cams are different from 90-91 to 92-93 etc.

To be same pickup at least a 92 B18A1 and you're fine!

i have to agree with you and like some one said that the b18a is 140 its 130 because i own 2 integras and they both have 130hp and my cousin had the b18b 93 ls and his had 140 hp and my freind has a 96 ls and his had 142 hp and i think your right and yes i'm letting you know your right on the cams and intake mainfold is a lil bigger i think but yup your right

Yes, it would be straight forward, just make sure that you are not putting an OBDII B18B into an OBDI wired car. That's where it gets a little tricky.
