Default Cooling problem

Timing belt and water pump were changed about 22k miles ago. Most of those miles (probably 85%) are highway. Today i was on my way to St. Jo. to deliver some parts someone's buying off the integra I'm parting out. Didn't get but 15-20 miles and my temp gauge is already 3/4 the way up to H, and it ALWAYS rides just to the left of the temperature graphic. I pulled over and noticed that the slower i went the warmer it got--ALMOST got over into the red, but i got to a service station, let it cool down, and there was coolant between the min/max lines on the overflow tank. Radiator was full. I'm guessing thermostat, but wanted to get a 2nd opinion before i go removing hoses and probably spilling some coolant on the ground (last time i did that someone called the cops saying my car was leaking radioactive fluid ). Anyone with me on this, or am I totally off?

Since I've owned a mk3 supra turbo (86.5-92) I've had just about every overheating problem imaginable. Your problem sounds like it is either a clogged/ineffient radiator (VERY possible), fans not working at lower speed, and/or you have a build-up of leaves etc. around your evap. core and radiator.

radiator is around 6 months old, and i just went out and saw nothing blocking it.

i think i'm going to let it run for a bit and see if the lower radiator hose gets hot.

upper hose is to the point where i can barely touch it. temp. gauge needle is to the right of the thermometer graphic.

if the lower radiator hose had nipples, they'd be sticking out it's so cold.

With what you told me about the nipple thing, I would definitely think about changing the thermostat. If you can, test the thermostat by placing it in a pot of boiling water. Make sure it opens all the way though (functioning properly). It looks like something is definitly blocking coolant flow though.

got the coolant all burped and filled. let it warm up, took it out for a bit, came back and let it idle, fan came on soon as it got to halfway (wasn't doing that before since no coolant was getting thru the closed thermostat), and it didn't get higher than halfway. and the lower radiator hose was nice and warm, just like the upper!
