If it didn't stay on maybe you're OK. But you can read ABS fault codes just like reading ECU fault codes. Jumper the plug under the dash way over on the right (at least for 3rd-gen) & the ABS light will flash it's code. (Is it any different for 1st or 2nd gen?) What year Integra do you have? In '98 or so, the fault code numbers changed, but I think the procedure is the same.

Yeah same here...when i first start my car it makes this annoying buzzing noise. Then after about 40 sec, the ABS light comes on and stays on. The shop said: 1.) my ABS system is gone or 2.) Might be air...They'd charge me about $75 to bleed the system or something like that. And if it doenst stop then my ABS is done I dont plan on replacing it, i heard they run about $1,100 ...

Could be that the wire is loose that connects to the battery. One nite I was out driving and right after I chirped the tires the abs light went on. Somehow the screw got stripped and wasn't holding the wire onto the battery anymore.

There's also a seal that often goes bad at the base of the accumulator.

Part #23 57072-ST5-003 O-RING (P5) 1 1994 Acura INTEGRA 1.48

BSQ did a good writeup about replacing this O-ring a while back.

I'm guessing this isn't a rare occurrence among teggys. My ABS light pops on every now and then, but not often. I have no problems with the car that I can tell of, but I also get that annoying buzzing sound sometimes when it starts. I would like to find out what that buzzing sound is related to. I originally thought it was the ABS.

That's the ABS pumping up pressure in the accumulator. If it takes too long (30sec??), the ABS computer lights up the light & stores a code.

you just described my exact problem, my integra is a 94 LS, and its been doing that ever since i got it like 4 months ago, im sure there is a way to fix it, were u just not going to touch it? ive kinda forgotten about it, but it is defintely embarrasing when there is a lot of people around and that stupid sound comes on followed by the light

Bleed your ABS first before you panic about real expensive repairs...

In the picture above, the ABS reservoir is #3, the bleed screw is below it's rubber cap #15. Put a hose over the bleed screw & in a jar. Open the bleed screw real slowly, maybe 1/8 turn. Open too much, too fast & the hose blows off & you get a mess. It might come out with enough force to hurt you.

Take off the caps, # 11&12, fill the reservoir with brake fluid. Start the engine, turn it off after the buzzing noise stops. Add fluid if it's gone down. Bleed it again. Run the engine again. Add fluid & bleed again. Until you don't get bubbles out any more.

If that doesn't help, you may be lucky enough to simply need a new O-ring (#23) for the accumulator. If you need a new accumulator #2 that's sorta expensive. If you need a whole new ABS unit that's really expensive...

is there a link to bsq's o-ring write up?

a while ago my abs light would go on cuz i think it was leaking. area underneath the abs unit was kinda wet and dirty looking. i always had to refill the abs resorvoir also. everytime i filled it back up the abs light wouldn't go on. so i had to do this like once every few months or so. then recently when i was doing some work around the abs unit and headlight housing, my abs light goes on now. i don't hear the buzz from the unit when i start my car either. is it possible that i might have knocked some sorta connection loose? how hard would is replacing the o-ring also? oh yeah, this is a 95 LS.

My ABS light has come on 2-3 times in the last 4 mos as well and then goes away. The car is '99 GSR with 40k mi. Probably because I auto-x a lot and usually engage ABS a couple of times per event (times 25 events/season adds up). So I expect to see that light more often..

The buzzing sound is normal and it's been doing it since I bought the car new with 2 mi. on it.

Good info on the O-ring littlepunk87!
