Default Compression test results...

I recently posted last week about some engine issues, loss of power, rough idle, and quite frankly my car sounds like a subaru
My compression test this past friday resulted in 180 all across until cyl. 4 it only pulled 60.
My question is what do you think is the cause of this? My thoughts are possible or a few bent valves. Input is very much appreciated. Thank you

Oh my car has the JRSC w/ 8lb pulley, i/h/e, ignition, portflow headwork..etc just to sum it up a little bit.

Your guess is as good as mine. A leakdown test will either tell you more or nothing at all.

Altho, I'd put my money down on the valves and maybe the rings included. I don't think you could lose that much compression through the rings and still be running. You probably would have had to of dropped a ring land to lose that much.

Do a leakdown test, it will help you to find where your problem is.

Yeah, a leak-down test should help to explain the problem.

My guess would be that you're getting blow-by due to bad piston rings..

Yea, thanks a lot fellas, I set up an appointment for tomorrow so we will see what that tells, wherever I am losing the pressure from. Thanks a lot for the input.

and yes it is using more oil then usual, i think its all related to my car running rich, at least as far as the rings go.

Redo the compression test and squirt some oil down in the cyl that is low. If it raises back up then your rings are f-ed up.

This is a backwoods method, but it works a lot. With you rcar idling hold a dollar bill up to the tail pipe. If it trys to suck it up you got bent exhaust valves. Also have you overreved your motot I.E. downshifted too high resently, that is the best way to bend valves.

if the car has been feeling underpowered, making noise, or giving strange vibrations it could be bad. but it could be as simple as u started to drain the battery by time u reached the 4th cylinder. did u do the test again starting with the 4th cylinder? and making sure u turn it over enough to get a good result. if u do put oil in the cylider only put a little bit in or ull have smoke comin out the exhaust for a while.
good luck dude

Yea, I am hoping it is just bent valves, easily replaced compared to a lot of other things.

About 4 months ago i wasted my ring lands on the #4 cylinder of my 95 Integra GSR. It has exactly the same symptoms your car is showing. 180 psi all the way across untill the #4 cylinder which showed about 60 psi. However, my motor would also send smoke out the breather indicating an obvious leak (piston related). I'm willin to bet your ring land is cracked...

It's time to pull the motor and rebuild it I've just been through that nightmare

Almost the same story with mine. Compression on #4 dropped from 220 to 80, and only one of the valves got tapped. I do mean tap....no marrings on the valve or piston that indicated damage.
