Default A simple question

if you do a compression test and a leak down test on a motor, and the results all came out normal, would that rule out any chance of scratches in the cylinders or worn valve seals?

i guess what im asking is, if you had scratches in your cylinders or your valves werent sealing properly, would you be able to tell from the compression and leakdown test results?

yes. but sometimes the problems may be so small the tests wont discover them yet...

no...

vavles seals can be determine from startups in the morning and it smokes alot.

scratches on cyllinder wall could only be looked at to determine if it leaks.

leakdown only determines if rings are bad or vavles bent or not seated..
compression is basily the same
