code 17 and no vtec??
im throwing code 17 (vss) and my vtec is not engaging. im not throwing any other codes and my oil is not low. anyone have any clue why 17 would cause my vtec not to work? thanks guys
Hey is this Jeremy?
Anyways, the code 17 is "vehicle speed sensor".
Oh and I think this is the reason your Vtec is not kicking in.
For vtec to work properly all of these aspects determine vtec operation.
A) engine speed
B) vehicle speed
C) throttle position
D) engine load measured by the map sensor
E) coolant temperature
So since your throwing a 17 your vtec doesnt know when to turn on so therefore it doesnt. Well that seems to be the most logical answer, hoefully I am right.
HTH, Karlos.

yes this is jeremy, yea i think thats the reason why my vtec isnt working, damn vss. anyways, is this karlos i sold the throttle body to from g2ic?
Yeah dude it is. Hopefully this helped out. So i'm guessing when they put your tranny in yesterday they didn't connect your speed sensor or the speed sensor on this new tranny is just messed up.
thats your vss. check your speedo cable. the shop that did my swap on my 92 DA did not replace the speedo cable, when i got thecar backit wa flashing code 17 alo. they replace the cable and afterwards VTEC worked fine...check the speedo to make sure its working...if it i, then its your vss, but sometimes it could be something so simple as the speedocable....
