car problem, stalling sometimes
my younger brothers 90 integra is havin starting problems. sometimes after its just been running, it will start up, but then just die out. if it sits for a few minutes it will usually start and run good. could this just be the fuel filter? it was recently replaced. any advice is appreciated.
can someone elaborate? when the car is in neutral or reverse, the RPMs are fine, but once its in drive, sometimes the RPMs drop so low that the car stalls.
How many miles are on the car? Try changing the main fuel relay ($75 new or almost free if you re-solder the old one yourself)
My car would do the exact same thing, and things got worse in hot weather in between warm starts.

It's gray with a 10mm bolt holding it down.... I doubt that's the problem though.

Here's my 2 cents...check the vacuum.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Not enought detail? 1990, 150,000 miles, runs good but hard to start when warm/hot. What more detail do you need? Here's my 2 cents ... it's not a vacuum line. If it was, the car wouldn't run well after starting.
Slomofo, you say you doubt that the MFR is the problem. But you don't suggest any other possibilities.
Frankly, I'm surprised that the MFR lasted this long before failing. If the problem persists after replacing it, your igniter could be the problem.

well, today it is really really hot. he came home from school while i was working on my car, and it was running fine. he shut it off, and came back to it after a short period of time, and it wouldnt start. i took out the MFR, took it apart to look at the soldering, and it looked fine so i gave it back to him and told him to try it again. the car started fine.
could the reason it started be because i took the relay into my house and let it cool down? it didnt do anything else to it.

It is probably the main relay, they usually stick open when hot. If you tap them with a hammer it will usually unstick it and allow it too work. You can usually just bang on the dash to get them to work as well. (if you know where to hit it
) Letting them cool down will also help them. As for resoldering them, I have never seen a main relay with a cold solder problem, it is usually the contacts on the mechanical portion of the relay itself, no chance of fixing those.
One poster mentioned the crank sensor (?) a 1990 Integra does not have any senors on the crank so I REALLY doubt that is the problem
