Why did you spell the title wrong, but right in your sentence above?
There isn't normally a break-in period for a turbo. Just make sure everything's working right before you beat the **** out of it.

You might want to be sure the turbo is lubricated prior to initial start-up. Prime the oil so the bearings don't spin dry, or just remove the oil line and let some oil seep into the bearings. Dry initial starts kill turbos rather quick.
