Brake pad replacement problems
I just replaced my brake pads and there seems to be a scraping (like sand paper) noise when i drive around and apply the brakes. Also, it looks like the brake pads are touching the rotor when the brakes are not even applied. Any idea what i did wrong?
Did you turn the rotors? Did you remove the brake lines? If you did remove the brake lines, did you bleed the lines properly? You may have a bad caliper and the piston isn't retracting.

I didn't turn the rotors and I didn't remove any brake lines. I just swapped out the pads. And the pads are touching the rotor on all four corners.

the pads always look like they are touching the rotors. go look at another car. does the scraping go away when you apply the brakes? does the scraping noise happen when the brakes are not applied under normal driving? give them a few days of normal braking to break in...no pun intended =/

The noise may be from not turning the rotors. They may have uneven wear that is causing the 'scraping' sound. Always turn your rotors, or at the very least hit them with coarse sand paper to remove any glaze.

When I drive, I hear the noise once in a while. ( I did hear a higher pitched squeal for about 5 seconds then it went away. That was weird and didn't sound good but it only happened once.) When I apply the brakes, I can hear a faint scraping as I am coming to a complete stop.

Bold #1 = Possible worn retainer clips
Bold #2 = Either you got some crappy coarse, cheap as brakes, or you really need your rotors turned. What brand and series brakes did you get?

I put in brand new OEM pads and everything else is stock. I did reuse the retainer clips because it didn't come with any new ones. And now that i think about it, i jacked up the rear wheels, spun them, and i could hear it scrapping only on certain parts of the rotor.

No, as long as you didn't loosen the brake hoses you're fine.

Sounds like either warped rotors or worn retainer clips.
