bouncing idle
when i start my car up the idle is up at around 3k...then eventually it goes down to like 2 and ahalf....it'll bounce up to 3 then back down to 1...then back to 2 then back to 1 then back to 2 and so forth...it just keeps bouncing. When the vehicle is warmed up, it'll settle down but its around 1800... i'm used to my vehicle being around 1k or less for idle...not all high and crazy... any ideas?
all help is appreciated.

im thinking the fast idle control valve on the back of the intake manifold. Something about takeing it apart and making sure everything is fit and nice and clean...sometimes, the white plastic piece inside is loose. Sound about right?

I think you mean idle air control valve on the back of the intake manifold. This only operates when the engine has reached normal operating temperature.
Now if the idle is bouncing when the engine is cold, its the fast idle thermo valve. Theres a DIY on here. Search.
If nothing else works, it could be a vacuum leak or air in your cooling system.
