Default Boost & Vtec???

Hey Guy's

I'm starting to put together build idea's for my 93 DC2 and was wondering how the Vtec engines handle boost?

I've heard most people prefer the 18b non Vtec engines, mostly for the lower compression i think.

Is there any performance differences between the 2 engines when boosted?

You mean high comp and boost...most people prefer the GSR actually 10:1 is the ideal C/R. I'm boosting my 11:1 B18CR...I'm not worried there are some extremely good tuners here in Toronto and it will be on a s300. VTEC engines are better made no matter how you look at it...stronger internals better head flow etc.

I think the OP is asking if VTEC will require a special map if boost is applied, since the exhaust/intake increases in VTEC mode.

Thats it mate, just looking if they need any special attention when boosting, i'de rather keep my B18c2 but was unsure about boosting them as i've only heard of the 18b engine with boost

ignores my proper response replies to a complete idiot. Yah have fun "boosting" if you don't even know the basics I outlined. I can happily go into the details as to WHY but....

yeah nothing to worry about. Im running a stock gsr with a shaved head- 2mm, ITR cams and 14 lbs of boost tuned by IMW and I net 330hp at the wheels and she been running strong for 4 months now and everyday I run full boost, especially when hitting the on-ramps. I have had a boosted LS and yes it runs super smooth, but doesn't compare to the boosted v-tec, its all in the tune my friend.

Back in the 90s and early 2000s people were afraid of compression and boost pressure but EFI tuning and fuels have come a long way. No people realize how much compression helps spool a turbo up and tuners have no issue with higher cmp turbo setups.

There a few LS setups that are making good power but the majority and easier route will be Vtec motors.
