Best way to get metal shavings out of head
Spun bearings in my bottom end and lots of metal shavings got to the head..
I have the head off and have a new block to put it on but i need to know the best way to get all the shavings out while valves and springs are still in.

Your never gonna get all of it out your self! remember this! and iv built many b series motors!, any lil amount of dirt/metal is gonna ruin the motor and make your motor loose compression. You really need to take the head to a machine shop for a hot tank at the least! i would highly recomend you to buy some new valve seals and have them do a 3 angle valve job, they usually offer this all for a head being turned in! like the old saying goes do it once and do it right! you dont wana put that used head on a fresh block cause sooner or later your valve seals go out and your burning oil and your gonna slap your self for not paying the extra $ to make sure the head was good. this usually cost around $250-$350 to freshen the head.

Re: Best way to get metal shavings out of head
yes i know that wont get all the shavings out and is deffinatly NOT something i would personally do, It just seems like alot of noobs (not sayin eghatch is one) just dont know how to break out a phone book and look up a decent machine shop thats local. AND they are NOT expensive at all
piston press 7$
resurface 35$
micropolish 35$
ect.ect.
(machine shop good)
i got my gsr head resurfaced, hot tank, new seals, and assembled 85$ + 50$ seals at acura (i have a small hook up but still general prices).
