From: where the weirdos are, so. ca
im going to change my axles tommorow and know pretty much what im going to have to deal with. but...since i dont have a manual, and im too broke to buy one, i was wondering if anyone has pics on what exactly has to be removed and where. i searched and found a thread with pics on this topic but it was regarding a civic. pretty sure it was an eg. they have the exact same suspension set-up as the da integras? thanks to anyone wholl take the time to help me out and point out the obvious.
Pretty easy....just a few things like tight bolts and ball joints that might give you problems.
1. Jack up car, have a good set of stands to hold it up.
2. Remove tire.
3. Remove the bottom bolt of the suspension fork connecting to the control arm. This allows everything to move down and you have a little more room to move things around.
4. Remove cotter pin from crown nut on the bottom of the assembly/ball joint.
5. You can do this pretty much in any step. Loosen the 32mm axle nut on the rotor. Depending on where you do this step, you will either do it with the car on the ground (easier) or with it in the air, in which case you will need a friend to stand on the brake so the rotor won't turn. This is a tough bolt.
6. Pull entire rotor assembly up and out of the lower control arm. (This will be tough if you haven't done this before. There are tricks to do it if you don't have a ball joint puller).
7. Gently tap out the axle from the rotor.
8. Get a pry bar and pry it out from the other side. That's it.
When you replace it, make sure it clicks into place into the intermediate shaft/tranny.
Good luck.
