Default antenna question

Whenever the antenna goes up/comes down (at it's peak) there is a grinding noise for a moment. Could it be a motor problem? Anyone ever had this problem before? Any idea's on how to fix it?

Yea tons of people have had that problem, i've seen plenty of posts about it. Its either the little plastic teeth and going bad or the mast is simply corroded. Try spraying a lube on the mast too see if it helps. If it still does that its most likely the teeth

alright, i sprayed some lube on the mast and let it run up and down a few times...it still makes the noise. So I suppose it's the teeth. How do I go about fixing them?

go and get a new antenna mast and follow the instructions on how to pull the old one and reinstall the new one.

lol. My apologies. Thought it could be fixed without it being replaced. Thanks for the info though.

If it is still working live with the grinding... mine did it for 2 years before i sold the car and always went up and down...

I dont think you can fix it, all those lil plastic teeth on the antenna rod. It would have to be relaced to get that OEM JDM ITR UP N DOWN quiet sounding motion, haha. j/k

That's what i'm going to do for now at least. Until I get the money together to do all the rest of the mods i want to do. It still works fine, just is a little annoying.

Thanks though
