Default Antenna Problem.

The antenna on my Prelude doesn't go down. You can hear the motor turning, but it doesn't catch. Is this a job for a mechanic, or is there a DIY option?

the antenna mast has a plastic strip on the end of it with teeth that lock with the gear on the motor to pull it up and down, the teeth wear out and the gear slips instead of pulling the antenna down, you can replace the mast yourself with a few tools and a little patience

i wish i could scan the pages out of the manual i have, it isn't a bad job, just hard to explain, you have to take the chrome nut of that is visible from the outside of the car and then pull the mast and strip out , then simply thread the new one in

the replacement mast is a dealer item, so head to honda for that, they also sell a tool to remove the nut, or you can take it off with some pliers, just be careful not to scratch it all up
