Antenna Question
Hi Guys,
I'm posting this up for my friend. She recently bought a 95 Integra and when the antenna goes up or down, it makes a clacking noise. Is this supposed to happen?
Cheers,
Aaron

Part of the antenna mast reel probably broke inside the motor or is getting stuck. Just take off the cap nut on top and reel the antenna mast out by turning on the radio and pulling gently on the mast. If the end is broken, she will need a new mast and will have to take the motor apart to get the broken piece out.
Sorry, I don't think I explained it very well.
The antenna still goes up and down. It only does the clacking when the antenna has reached all the way up the top or all the way down the bottom. She just gets a little embarrassed when she has to turn on or off the radio. Is the clacking sound normal? and is there also a fix if it isn't normal?
TIA

Search on http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org for the diagram. Basically, there are 2 parts to an antenna mast. ther visible part is the telescopic metal antenna that you see. The 2nd part is a plastic chord with teeth that coils inside the antenna motor. Like tilt said, you can just pull it out when the antenna goes up. However, when my mast broke, I had to open the motor and take the broken plastic piece.
To get to the motor, you'll need to peel back the trunk lining. Next, unhook the clear tube and the power cable, loosen the nuts and pop out the motor.
