1st -> 2nd grind...
It seems to be grinding more and more often when I quickly shift from 1st into 2nd. It's a long, embarrasing, grind like I missed the shift or something, but it still goes into 2nd. Any ideas what this is?
I'm thinking it's clutch related, but I'd like a 2nd opinion. My clutch has almost 80k miles on it and the master cyl has a slight leak (but the fluid level is normal).
Also, clutch fluid is just brake fluid, right? Could I go to AutoZone and get some to top it off or is it bad to mix different kinds?

Well, I'm hoping it's clutch related... the clutch pedal feels kinda spongey and like I have to press it down a little farther than normal to engauge it. I just looked at the fluid and it's full, but I can see crap in it. I'm going to flush the fluid tomorrow morning...
Anyone know the correct way to flush the clutch fluid? Should I just get like a turkey baster thing and suck all the old stuff out, then refill it? Anything else I need to do?

it's the synchros dude....my '96 did the same thing sometimes if you went really quick.
just make sure to be sure handed when you shift and keep the revs (matched).

i have the same exact problem and the other day i grinded it really hard..i hope i didn't damage anything...how much does it usually cost to get the synchros replaced..i have a 01 gsr with 20,000 miles on it...do you think the dealership would do anything about it?
