Honda Civic Pickup Conversion: Not Quite a Ridgeline
There are some cars that we’d describe as ‘dream builds.’ This one definitely falls squarely in the ‘nightmare’ category.
Here at Honda-Tech, we’re all about crazy builds. Who doesn’t love Bisimoto’s mega-power turbo Civic Wagovan that made the rounds a few years back? Sometimes, though, we see other builds that make us wonder, “Are the Honda people okay?” We can’t help but be reminded of the six-wheeled Civic we featured on this very website a while ago.
This Honda Civic “pickup” conversion is definitely in the latter category. We found it on Facebook Marketplace in Norwalk, Ohio – just a few miles away from Summit Motorsports Park. Somehow, we doubt that thing thing will make any passes down the drag strip any time soon.
It’s listed with the somewhat…ambitious price of $4,000, and the ad is written in such a way that it makes it pretty obvious that the seller isn’t particularly serious. Well, if he wanted attention, we’re only too happy to give it to him.
Built, Not Bought
There’s considerable crash damage to the rear of this ’98 Civic, and we’re inclined to believe that roof damage – perhaps from a fallen tree – inspired the abbreviated roof and pickup truck conversion. This isn’t exactly a SEMA-quality build. Of course, many of those SEMA builds are hastily thrown-together junk, but this Civic pickup doesn’t even make an attempt at looking presentable.
In addition to the hack job up top, there’s a hack job underneath, too. This Civic is slammed to within an inch of its miserable life, although the ad humorously claims that this custom built pickup truck “can haul more than your Ford Ranger or F-150.”
On the positive side, the seller points out that there’s no rust, as it “all fell off when I rolled the fenders.” In case you’re wondering, this Civic rolls on 16×8″ XXR wheels. The seller includes a long list of additional issues beside the obvious ones on full display. We feel like a cracked windshield, non-functional sunroof, and worn ball joints are the least of anyone’s concerns here. Oh well, at least the seller is somewhat honest.
