Murdered-Out S2000 Is the Craziest AP1 Build Ever!
Car builder seized the opportunity to finally build an S2000 in his vision–an salvage AP1 with severe damage from a prior accident.
Honda S2000 has become a cult classic in the past couple of years due to its high revving engine, unique styling characteristics, and motorsports pedigree. It has turned into a platform that most enthusiasts fear to modify due to increasing value and limited resources as the cars age.
This poses a real challenge for those who frequent Honda-Tech, where having the car in stock form is rarely the goal. Oftentimes with highly sought after cars, enthusiasts will look into getting previously salvaged examples in order to feel less guilt in pursuing their vision. Car builder, Joshua Opheium (@joshua_opheim) seized the opportunity to finally build an S2000 with his vision and purchased an unfinished project – an AP1 Honda S2000 with severe damage from a previous accident.

With the damage already done, Opheium went ahead and began grafting on components from other vehicles to form what is seen below. Rear body lines were adjusted to his liking by blending supercar exhaust tips from a McLaren, tail lights from an Audi, grill pieces from a Ford, and even a rear diffuser from a Ferrari.
This combination of parts yields a reshaped set of lines, making this S2000 not only unique but almost unrecognizable to the untrained eye. Other details to note are the Spoon-style hardtop and J’s Racing-style rear over fenders to help bring things together.

The front maintains a factory Honda S2000 CR front lip as a nod to its previous life, while integrating ASM-style fender flares, Ballade Sports fender vents, singular LED strips in place of headlights, and a trimmed front bumper/splitter combo that creates a modern Mad Max style shape to further drive home the wild approach.
Finally, the missing doors allowed full visual access to the updated interior, featuring cameras in place of the side view mirrors, and a modified AP2 gauge cluster. The style of the build continues to bring together modern technology with a twist of personality that sets it apart.

This will spark the long debate amongst collectors and lovers of these S2000’s can discuss for years to come – is this awesome or not? I believe it to be always a good thing when someone executes their vision, regardless of how rare a car can be.
