Kyle Kirkwood earned his first IndyCar but the Integra Type-S was already gunning for pole position for style. 

Now in its 48th year, Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach has a very storied history–some of the greatest in racing history have a presence there: Dan Gurney, Michael Andretti, Paul Tracy, Scott Dixon, you name it.

However, terminal velocity racing wasn’t the only thing vying for the hearts and eyes off attendees.

48th Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach

Long Beach Grand Prix track, located in downtown Long Beach, California, is one of the most iconic street circuits in the world. The track, which measures 1.968 miles (3.167 km), has 11 turns and takes the drivers through the streets of Long Beach, including Shoreline Drive, Pine Avenue, and Seaside Way. The track is known for its high speeds, tight corners, and unforgiving walls. It’s a challenging circuit that demands the best from both the car and the driver.

The Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach has a rich history in racing, dating back to 1975. The event has seen some of the biggest names in motorsports compete on its streets, including Formula One World Champions, IndyCar Champions, and sports car racing legends. The event has also seen its fair share of exciting moments, including some dramatic crashes and photo finishes.

2024 Acura Integra Type-S

This year’s event was no different. The 2024 Acura Integra Type-S (available June 2023) stole the show with its impressive styling and performance. The car was designed to be a modern interpretation of the classic Integra Type-R, which was a fan favorite in the ’90s and early 2000s.

The upcoming version of the Type-S features a sleek and aggressive design, with sharp lines, a low stance, and a bold front grille. It’s also powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine with 320 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Remarkably, it has only one gearbox option–a Type-S exclusive a six-speed manual transmission

The Integra Type-S wasn’t the only Acura on display at the event. The NSX pace cars looked stunning on the track, with their bright orange and white livery standing out against the backdrop of the city.

The NSX is Acura’s flagship sports car, and it’s known for its hybrid powertrain, which combines a twin-turbocharged V6 engine with three electric motors, producing 520 HP and 443 ft-lbs. of torque with 0-60 mph time of just 3.1 seconds.
