Potent 700-HP Integra Type R Has Supercar-Beating Performance

DC5 Integra Type R

This Integra Type R may look stock from the outside, but the fully built and turbocharged K20 engine makes it breathtakingly quick.

The DC5 Integra Type R is a wonderful machine. Good looks, stout engine and impressive handling. They also make a fantastic base on which to build a modified supercar killer. And this 700 horsepower Integra Type R is exactly that. It not only makes big power that creates rocket like acceleration. But the handling had been tightened up as well with a set of coilovers. And to look at it, you could easily mistake it for a stock DC5. Of course, once you heard the engine fire up you would know that this is making waaaay more than the stock 220 horsepower.

A video was posted recently on the Monky London YouTube channel. This video gives us an overview of the build. But the real fun comes from the scenes of the car just devouring U.K. traffic. Thankfully the video is much heavier on the driving scenes than the talking about the specifics of the build. Although the specifics of the build are certainly interesting. We will get to those details right now.

K20

Speed

This car makes more than triple the amount of power found in a stock DC5 Integra Type R. The biggest contributor to this massive power gain is the 6262 Precision Turbo. The turbo is rated at 705 horsepower. But there is far more to this car than just a fat snail. It is jamming air into a fully forged K20A2 engine.

Pumping fuel into the engine are 1,000 cc injectors and external fuel pumps. There is a big intercooler to keep the temps in check. In low boost mode this car makes a little over 500 horsepower. Flip the switch to full boost and you get the full 700. The gearbox is also fully built to handle the power. It is still a 6-speed manual though. So, be sure to keep your hands on the wheel as much as possible as this car will torque steer.

Interior

Styling

From the outside there is not much to clue you into this being a fully built car. And on the inside, it is much the same. The car has less than 90,000 miles on it and there is not a spot of rust anywhere.

If you keep the boost turned down and go easy on it, this car could easily be a daily driver. Until you pull up next to a supercar on the highway. Then switch to high boost mode, plant your foot to the floor and you are giving that supercar driver the shock of his life.

Integra Type R

Type R Future Plans

The goal is to make this more into a track car. A brake upgrade is in the near term. Beyond that the hope is for a sequential gearbox and an all-wheel drive configuration. We can’t imagine how fast this thing will be once that is done. When this car is being driven on the road there are nothing but smiles from both driver and passenger. And how could you not smile when you are in something like this? So, now that you have seen the car, what do you think? If you had a DC5 Integra Type R is this how you would build it? Would you go even more extreme? Or would you keep it closer to stock? Let us know your thoughts in the Honda-Tech forums.
