Default 08-12 Accord P0339 Starter heat shield?

Hi, my daughter's 2009 Accord 2.4l has an intermittent problem starting - when hot. A P0339 code appears.

After many researches, I am wondering if the malfunction of the starter, especially non Mitsuba originals, could be caused by the fact that the starter in 'enclosed' and suffering from heat.

Has anyone ever tried to install a starter heat shield ?

Thanks!

instead of a shield, how about running a tube from behind the radiator to under the starter? As you drive air is pushed thru the tube to the starter

Hi, thank you, yes I can see air flow would help. It's the first time I see a starter hidden like that.

is it hard starting (engine spins but does not run) or not cranking (turn key/push start button, nothing happens; engine does not spin)?

the code is unrelated to the starter motor. this is for the CKP signal only. should be addressed by the standard troubleshooting procedure. open or shorted wire, failed sensor or damaged/dirty pulser ring/plate are most of the possible causes.

a failing starter may act up more when at warmer under hood temps than when cold. but it is not operating outside of the normal temp range when the engine is at normal temp. the starter does not need to be cooled to work.
