2000 Honda S2000

Clean, garaged, and driven only 34 miles. This Honda S2000 is the closest to showroom quality we have seen without a time machine.

When it comes to cars that have rightfully reached cult status, we would easily include the Honda S2000. When the convertible sports car hit the market in 1999, it was an exciting car. Great style, JDM reliability, and a 4-cylinder that packed high revs and power. Honda made the S2000 (or S2K) until 2009. Since then, Honda has found the S2000 has a devoted and dedicated group of fans. And while Honda S2000s pop up in the resale market, this mint one made us do a double-take.

The uber clean 2000 Honda S2000 is up on the docket at Mecum’s upcoming Kissimmee auction, January 7 to 16. And it is simply pristine.

Unlike many of the S2Ks for sale, this one is notable for a few reasons. Firstly, it is near-virginal with only 34 miles on the odometer. Secondly, the owner is an enthusiastic motorhead who kept the car garaged and basically a time capsule.

The owner of the car, Hedy Cirrincione recently told The Drive about how she came to purchase the S2K in 2000. She first spotted a red 2000 Honda S2000, at a dealership in New York. It made an impression.

“I stopped dead in my tracks,” Cirrincione says. Sometimes you just know. Hedy knew. She bought it then and there, and continues to drive it everyday.

Happy with her purchase, she learned that a second S2K was for sale, this one in Silverstone Metallic. So, she grabbed it up. When she purchased it, it had 24 miles on it, and only ten miles additional miles have been put on it in the last 20 years. Ultimately she didn’t need two S2000s, but she took beautiful care of it, nonetheless.

Choosing to sell now, we anticipate her diligence will pay off very handsomely.

Powered by a 2.0-liter DOHC VTEC inline 4-cylinder engine, it is paired to a six-speed manual. The rear-wheel-drive S2K knocks out a staggering a 240 HP at 8,300 RPM, pushing revs into 8,900 before the limiter kicks in. The design also features 50/50 weight distribution, neutral chassis dynamics, and more make the S2000 a high-performance, precise, and very fun car to drive.

Every detail on the car is so clean–the interior, exterior, engine bay–you could eat off them. We wouldn’t recommend it, but hey….

Loaded with great extras such as torque-sensing limited-slip differential, pushbutton start, original AM/FM stereo with CD player, power windows, power locks, air conditioning, cruise control, rear defroster, HID headlights, dual-outlet exhaust system, and remote-control lock-unlock-trunk release, and a 12-volt power outlet to charge the cell phone.

2000 Honda S2000

If you are interested, it is expected to fetch $125K. Higher than usual, but it is one of the best examples of a 2000 Honda S2000 we’ve ever seen in the resale market. Plus, that very fresh, sexy, powerful vert is sure to turn heads on any road or track.

And it comes with a great life lesson: If you like it, why not buy a spare?
