Default new to me 99 accord

being a 25+ year owner of japanese cars i bought a different brand of car... went from suzuki to honda. needed a reliable daily driver that wont break the bank on fuel economy. wife found a fresh listing on a '99 accord that has been well maintained, so my son and i quickly finished the fuel tank in the suzuki vert and wife and i ran to town with cash in hand to make the purchase....

191, xxx km. engine replaced at 81, xxx .a/c/t/pw/pl/pm/ps leather well equipped good tires good glass
replacement for the geo metro/pontiac firefly/chevy sprint

with good maintenance i should see 400,xxxkm .....hopefully- vehicles are a terrible investment
a few quirks to work out (immobilizer key issue) but thats to be expected on this age of vehicle-worn out keys.
but does run very well, shifts very nice.
looking forward to gleaning info from this site and members , to make the car run its best and what parts/ repairs do and dont work.

i have already replaced the pathetic oem signal lamp/ park lamp bulbs with led units. installed a led flasher so the flash rate is proper. the drives side trunk lid lens has been replaced with a non- oem unit, the clear lens for the reverse lamp has a red tinge to it- and light bleed-thru from adjacent bulbs- so will look for an oem lens.
have ordered new headlamps- so cheap not even worth me trying to polish them clear again- also have led headlamp bulbs as well.

has a stainless steel fart can muffler, installed at the dealership- not sure if i will leave it, or install an oem muffler.... 4 cylinders with open exhaust sound terrible, i like quiet as i commute everyday at highway speeds, and the drone does get annoying....

will be upgrading the audio- a new double din receiver, as well as a pair of 10 inch subs powered by a 1400w d class amp, maybe upgrade the oem speakers- those 6x9s are a pain to get at....

soon will be doing the timing belt / balance belt/ water pump etc etc as preventative maintenance. dont want the pistons kissing valves if the belt breaks. the suzuki 1.0 is non-interference- stripped belt at 163 kmh, reset timing, change belt in parking lot, keep on driving...

has an issue with the key immobilizer. car has randomly shut off at highway speed, green key icon flashing in dash.... a couple of restart attempts and it was running again- also has a crank / start die symptom , same green icon in dash-
may have to get new keys for it.
oh and key fobs are gone- none came with car.
