Default Shot peen vs. Glass peen

What is the difference besides one uses metal shots and the other glass. They are both meant to stress relieve metal. I'm planing on taking my rods to the machine shop but the one I go to only glasspeens.

Your right on the media types but...glass peening is more of a finishing/cleaning blast. It can relieve some surface stresses on soft material but not on something like con rods.
You would want to go with shot peening

Glass peening does work great though...transmission cases, engine block, cyl heads all lok pretty clean after some glass peening. Good luck man
