Default shotpeened vs. Glass Bead

Thought I had a shop lined up for shotpeening my rods, come to find out it was accually glass bead. Is there any disadvantage to this? They said they were equivalant what is ya'lls opinions-experiences?? Thanks

Well when I hear glass bead I think of a sand blaster...so you definatly wanna clarify what exactly they are talking about.

well I asked the shop if they shot peened rods they said they could glass bead them....I ask if it was comparable to shot peening....was just wonder if anybody else has any experiences with it

glass bead means sandblast and shotpeen is a hardening process....either im dumb or the shop missunderstood you!? tell them what you want to be done with the rods...also what are you running that needs shotpeend rods?

Ls-Vtec N/A. B18A block, B16 p/p head, ITR bottom end with the exception of the rods, GS-R cams etc......

yeah glass beading is like sandblasting.

he probably thinks you mean media blasting or something when you say shot peening, and that's why he said they're comparable.

Yes, but during glass beading, it's actually beat up by small pieces of beaded glass. It's like media blasting, but it's not plastic.

In sandblasting, it's actually done with sand

I thought glass beading is used for cleaning and body work.

so the long and short of it is....There no way near the same thing right . Great now I have to accually find a shop that will do this for me now....Appreciate all the info though
