Blow an instrument cluster light fuse?
Lately my 99 Civic Si has been plagued by electrical gremlins. I think my ignition switch is faulty since I have 12v comming out of my ignition wire after the car is turned off. Plus, last nigt I go to drive my car turn on the lights and my darn instrument lights weren't on. Check the fuse and it was blown, put another one in and it blew again. Anyone ecounter this problem?

There's a short somewhere. Think back to the last time you touched ANYTHING in your car ... it could very well be the culprit.

I'm having the same problem. I checked the fuse and switched it with the spare but neither the driving lights nor the instrument cluster work. All of them are tied into the same 10 amp fuse, but replacing that didn't do crap. Does anyone have any ideas?

My cluster/parking lights went out when I had a short in my ashtray light... the wire is REALLY poorly placed directly underneath a sharp metal bit that can cut into the wire...
that's what happened to me...
give it a shot.

you have anything spliced into the 12V coming from you headlight switch? you might want to try and put in a larger fuse like a 30A and see what happens. If it still blows I'd rip the dash apart and check for a short

Re: Blow an instrument cluster light fuse? (cvcpower)
Had the same problem about 6 weeks ago and never found the solution. After 25-30 hours of chasing the problem, I disconnected allthe main harnesses, ripped the fuse panel out of the car and reintalled everything, haven't had a problem since.
Start by checking the combination switch, the stalk that runs all the lights. Check for continuity between each pole with the switch in the "on" positon. If that checks out, check all your running light, tail light and license plate bulbs for corrosion, water, dirt, etc. If that's ok, it's time to start visually inspecting wires. If they appear ok, you'll need to start checking continuity between the fuse panel and load point (ie, a bulb socket). If that doesn't work, repost and I'll give you more ideas that I tried.
Good luck, stay calm!
