Function & Form Type 2 or better???
Im presently doing research into affordable but dependable coilover setups I could put on my civic type r... My car is a DD but I would like bit more of sportier handling than what the stock type r setup can offer me with ability to fine tune as well... My type r is equipped with Function 7 LCAs, mugen bushings, tein springs on stock shocks and Buddy club camber kit all around so im looking for that perfect ride... I like the FF Type 2 but however i've been seeing mixed reviews on them... Some people are saying that they are great DD but other's dont like them for what ever reason... I want to hear from people who have used this coilover setup... I want all the details about it... Also if you think there is better setups out there, please recommend...

The functionform will suit a daily driver and do a very nice job,however they are by far not the best setup and lack in the hadleing department, i have driven a car that has both type 1 and type 2 they both felt good in corning, high speed/low speed, but the koni/gc setup and pic both blow ff away, and can still give a great ride quailty.
That being said id buy them for sure, but for the money there is better, koni/gc is a litle more, and pic is a little bit more then koni/gc. I havent driven a car with amr's but i can say they are high quailty.

i just installed my functions F type ones yesterday and i like them alot. paid 630 brand new, for the price there awesome and worth it but there are definatly better stuff out there if you have the extra cash.

I've been running the new Type II's since they were out - over 15k miles - no issues. Great coilover for the price and performance. If you want the best control, get the Type II's since they provide you with better tuning control with dampening adjustment. I know well over 25 people running them with no issues.
BTW: I'm stepping up with the new Eibach ERS spring option they have now... just came out!
Type 2.Five w/Eibach ERS Springs - I believe you may be able to get custom spring rates as well.

I have an EK 2door that is currently on cut springs and stock towers, it's bouncy as anything. I just bought the car so I want to upgrade it to something decent. it's my DD and with the current setup the ride is pretty bad, it bottoms out if i hit a medium size bump and it's just all around rough. My question is how does the type 1 ride, is it pretty smooth? and is the type 2 alot smoother? is it worth the extra few hundred bucks?

Type2's are softer...but they have a deadness to them. Like riding around on a stale chip that's been left out in the humidity at a barbeque.
There are WAY better options for the money. But you have to be realistic. F&F's are cheap and ride like garbage. But you can totally slam the car on them...and you get 32 clicks of adjustment (why?).
Tein Street Advance cost about the same as type2's. But...you can't slam the car since they're not FULL body adjustable (only spring height adjustable). They also "only" have 16 clicks. But they are quality pieces and they do ride well.
Koni/GC's are a little more expensive. They're more firm, if you need firmness. They're also quality pieces...and are configurable. But you don't want to lower more than about 2" or 2.5" if you buy extended hats (more $$).

Just want to slam the car. Just get larger bump stops and ride with what you have. You'll stop bottoming out.
F&F rides poor. Being low isn't cheap. Why not stick to a modest drop with quality parts that will ride well for a lifetime?

If you want to go low AND ride well, it costs money. You're asking a lot from a sub $1000 coilover.
For a coilover to go very low and ride well, it has to be full body adjustable. I can't think of any good quality full body adjustable coilovers for under $800. Buddy Club N+ and Tein Street Flex are just over/under the $1k mark. The teins are better quality out of the two.
Megan racing "EZ street" aren't exactly known for their build quality. But they get better reviews than F&F. I think they're cheap....like $700-800. Same with D2's.
You're giving up a lot of quality by adding features while keeping price constant, however.
If all that matters is price, "decent" ride, and lowness (rated by amount of sadness they'll cause)...

Well if u want a ride better than your cut springs and blown stock shocks and struts 8 think anything no matter what it cost will work my little brother is riding on ebay crap coilover sleeves and it rides like complete crap soo doo what u can man if u cant afford a good set right now u can always throw everything back on their stock for really cheap and then save up for the good stuff, im a technician at a shop and when i first started i bought crappy tools cuz i was like F that im not buying snap on and mac tools or matco and here i am today with those tools cuz u want the quality they give just the same as the stuff u want with the springs and shock u buy crappy today and will spend more tomorrow to buy better stuff

Alright so i guess i should apologize for the ignorance. But alright so cheap isnt the way to go. So how about say $1500 range. is there anything decent and what im looking for in that price range?

Well there has been many reviews on here about the koni and ground control setup (what im saving for ) and ive read ppl having good luck with the progress setup soo yea more expensive coilovers are they way to go but these other setups have been proven by quality and by use as the cheapest setup u can go with if ur not absolutely tracking the car every single weekend and not driving it as a daily yea go with more expensive, but since im gonna daily it and maybe track it every once in a while i am actually gonna go with a ground control and koni setup thmotorsports can actually setup custom spring rates for you and customer service is excellent

Track use is not the only reason to spend money on coilovers.
If you're in the $1500 range, you've got some good options.
You can't slam a car on Koni/GC. So...that's out. People will say that you can...and that they have...but there are differences between good and bad ideas.
Tein Street Flex would be a good one for you to look into. IIRC, they're around $1100. I've bought several different coilovers for my cars at Thmotorsports.com over the past few years.
If you didn't want to slam it, I'd point you toward KW V2's or Koni/GC or something else.

I don't believe Koni/GC will slam it below a 2.5" drop EVEN with the extended top hats. That whole set up is right at $1,000 if you go through some vendors or find a deal lingering out there. I believe the Koni/GC set up runs around $800 and extended top hats are another $200-300 (iirc). That is a comfortable, quality, 2.5" drop. Progress does a 1.5"-2" drop (approx.) for $600 on stock top hats with their coilovers. They are great coilovers for the price but probably aimed at introductory track use over going extremely low. They have a 'sweet spot' for the ride height as recommended by Progress.
It seems the Tein Street Flex (as stated above) is a good option too and is right at $1,000 depending on chassis.

Call AMR engineering ask if they have what you want in stock and ready to ship. Ask for HT discount, price should be around what you're looking for. If not I have ran KONI/GC 500fr 400rr with extended too hats and the ride was great in my EK.
