Icon2 Check engine light when thermostat inserted

Hello everyone, Im new to the site but not to Hondas. I wouldnt say that I am a mechanic, but I am a good parts hanger and can take anything apart and put it back together, especially if I have a good manual of sorts. With that being said, Here is my problem.....

I have a 94 Civic DX and I am not sure of all the mods that have been done to it by previous owners. It has a D15B2 engine and the intake manifold has been swapped from DPFI to MPFI, I guess they did everything right, not really sure.... I know they diddnt wire the radiator fan correctly b/c it was on a switch and now I have it hardwired so that when the ignition is ON it is as well..

The other day I noticed a pinhole water leak at the seal to my thermostat housing...went straight to the store to buy a new thermostat/gasket. when I opened it up I was surprised to see that it had NO THERMOSTAT or gasket. I put the new one in and now my check engine light will not go off. it only came on every now and then before I replaced the thermostat. any ideas???

What ECU is being used for your OBD0 D15b2 engine? What is the code? Is the code cleared after resetting the ECU?

Is the cooling system filled with water or 50:50 coolant?

The B2 fan switch is on the back of the block so that is probably what they wired it like that. Not sure about the check engine light. Check the codes and report back.
