Default What causes the 2nd to 3rd gear grind? why does it grind?

Why on earth does the 2nd to 3rd gear usually grind when drag racing?

Why is it difficult to get it into gear?

You cant shift, or your syncros are gone.

Bad shifting? hehe, j/k. The only times ive had that problem is my own mistake, ie letting the clutch out a millimeter too early.

Yeah i would say youre just trying to shoot the shifter straight across too fast and you're not having the clutch all the way in at that time.Hope this helps

Yeah, I've had this problem before and am having this problem again now. Honda did a good job by fixing the 3rd gear synchromesh which was covered under warranty. That was a few months ago now. It's grinding again now, I'm bringing it in to Honda this Friday. I'm not sure if they should've replaced the gear together with the synchro the last time, instead of just the synchro itself. Cheers!
