Default precision 6262 vs 6266?

so i am stuck on which turbo to go with. my goal is around 550-600 whp. the block is fully build and head is semi built. I am also running on e85. Also i am thinking if i go with 6266, i ll get 63 A/R and if i go with 6262, ill get 82 A/R for faster spooling purpose. What you guys think? thanks in advance.

What's displacement on the motor?

Cams you will be running and turbo manifold?

Pick a turbo that will make sense with your set up.

For that power goal just go with the 6262

5858 with a .82 housing will reach your power goals and have a better powerband if you don't want to go for more power in the future. The 6266 makes 75-100 more hp than the 6262 and the larger exhaust wheel will max out the compressor at lower boost pressures

Right, the 5858 will do a killer job at that power level!

I can tell you based on my recent dyno testing.

An old school 6262 spools every so slightly slower than a 6466! So yes a 900whp turbo spools just as quick as a 750whp turbo lol.

With the elevation you have in CO, I think the 6266 would've been the better choice. Also a major set back you will have will be your cams.

I had the 5858 JB on my 84mm GSR a couple years ago. Made 560/405 at 20psi. Turbo had more in it, just ran out of fuel. You won't regret your choice, its an awesome street turbo.

Yes it's an awesome turbo, we all know this to be true, but is it enough to make 550-600hp in Colorado's elevation? OP is also utilizing B16 cams for his setup, which is really gonna hold him back. Based off of elevation and cams, a bigger turbo would've been a better choice by keeping it more in it's efficient range, as opposed to running a smaller turbo and throwing massive amounts of boost at it to get to the targeted power range while the efficiency range is out the window.

Is there any data on how much turbo "airflow" you loose with elevation, I'm at a very similar elevation to Denver, CO and have often wondered how this impacts maximum turbo flow capability.

No cfm loss chart here, but Colorados air sucks. Even though we're at 5800 feet at the track the density altitude always puts us a lot closer to 10,000 feet on race day, especially in June/July/August. If you're in CO try not to tax a weak bearing turbo, or at least get a ball bearing unit if you're going to be spinning a small guy that hard
