Default 5857 vs 5862

I'm currently building a b18c turbo setup. My power goal is 600 but I'll be content with mid 500s. With that being said will a 62 turbine housing do me more
justice than just sticking with my 57? not to mention increase the hp rating. I have done more than enough research on the 5857 and the 5858 but couldn't
find anything Honda related about the 5862. Any advice will help, thanks!

P.S I already have the 5857 but was debating switching out the turbine housing so 6262 is not a option.

Just get the 6262. The first number (58) is the compressor inducer. If you nget the 5862 the turbine housing wont fit unless you bore it.
Much better get the Shodan´s silver surfer.

The larger exhaust wheel will allow more power per pound of boost and will max the turbo out at a lower boost pressure. So the 5862 will need to run less boost pressure to make the same power as the 5857. Either way they will both make roughly the same amount of peak power maybe a few extra ponies on the larger exhaust wheel.

You need the matching turbine wheel to step up to a 5862... You cant just throw the housing on it.

yea sorry i thought it was that easy but I'm sure when I buy the turbine housing it comes with the wheel correct? Don't really know much about this considering its my first turbo build. If I can't make the 600hp than
I'll just keep the 5857 until I have enough to upgrade to something bigger.

It's just a housing. the turbine wheel is part of a shaft that goes through the cartridge. But the housing won't fit without the larger wheel/shaft.

So it may be time to upgrade.

The 5857 has made your goal with the .82 ar housing on the wheel you already have.

At very high boost pressures over 30psi. The cartridge at that point will be experiencing extreme stresses at that point.

The question is whether or not the OP wants 600whp at all times or occasionally, in which that level would only be achieve for a brief period in the rpm range.

If 600whp is to be obtained on regular basis, I recommend something a little larger using a fuel that has a high knock-resistant threshold.

Well I will be using E85 all the time no problem and by "all times" do you mean rpm range? I don't want to be in 600hp for only 1k of my powerband.

With a 5857, you won't even be at 600whp for 600rpm duration at over 30psi of boost pressure. Its time for a larger turbocharger all together to do that, even on E85, and not just go to a 5862.

To be frank I'm 20yrs old and money doesn't allow me to get a new turbo so with that being said at the moment I'll have to be content with whatever efficient power I get out of this 5857

Yep. May be your best bet if you have budget constraints
