Re: All motor J series

The main thing is on the transmission side it all depends on the pin that the cable connects to. The big arm with the weight on it has two spots. One behind the pivot point on the engine side and one...

Re: Need Little help for all motor b serries drag eg

Great job! I do think the 23"s will be much better. There is a good possibility that the tall tires could have hurt your 2nd gear and probably broke your axle. 23s will be more forgiving. One thing I...

Re: Need Little help for all motor b serries drag eg

Yes, slicks will help out a lot.
I think your bigger though issue is too much traction with those tall of tires. But, I'm going off of my own experience on a prepped track.
I made 270hp on a B...

Nice build.
I like those gears, they look beefy.

Re: Which supertech valve spring?

From what I understand, the reason the track springs (100lbs) are track only is because the durability is limited to so many hours of use. I can tell you from experience that springs have a lifespan....

Re: Gsr cam gears and crank pulley compatible with b16 water pump with timing belt?

No, unfortunately it will not work. The GSR and B16 water pump are the same. Both have the same number of teeth and both carry the same part number (19200-P72-013). Since the B16 block is shorter...

Re: Drag slick beadlock question

I agree. I was even going to say rim screws but you covered that.
I'm at around 650whp and I run 6-7psi in my tires. No bead locks, but I do have rim screws. They are way cheaper than bead locks and...

Re: Dyno-tuned NA OBD1 JDM GSR: 198whp, 138wtrq (ITR intake cam, I/H/E)

I'm honestly impressed. A gsr motor with bolt ons and just the type r intake cam making just about 198hp on a mustang dyno is great! From what I understand mustang dynos read lower than a dynojet. So...

Re: Doors blowing off?

Id like to know too. I want to buy the k-tuned hinges but if they are causing doors to blow off, I wouldn't do it. Since the hinges sit in the bracket, they aren't really being held in except by...

Re: Cuff or no cuff

I feel it does. I helps prevent to gears from separating. The only thing holding the top of the gears together is stock cast casing. So using a cuff will help hold it all together.
When I had stock...

re: Complicated Question: What is the safest maximum power output of a J35A8 engine?

One thing Jeff Evans said about the J series is that it was very reliable even how they pushed it. He said the only maintenance they had to do all season and between seasons is change the oil. A...

Re: How much would it cost to get 800hp?

One other thing to point out, if you do build it for 800hp, don't tune it yourself. Unless you have taken EFI classes and have a lot of experience building fuel and timing maps for turbo, don't try...

Re: 1. FINAL DRIVE AND CLOSED GEARING URGENTLY NEEDED YOUR OPINION

Its a good question, but really hard to answer without more info. And even with an answer, that will only be estimating what the car should do.
4.9 final drive will give you quicker acceleration but...

Re: How to get access to check cambelt condition on a B20 engine?

Its more likely that the valve lash is loose. So it causing extra wear on the cams or rocker pads is less likely. These motors go a ton of miles without any adjustments. The worst that happens is the...

Re: How to get access to check cambelt condition on a B20 engine?

If valve lash is too loose, it would cause a tapping sound from the top end. I'm not sure if there would be any auditory indication of the lash is too tight. But you can loose performance if the lash...

Re: How to get access to check cambelt condition on a B20 engine?

If you want to take the lower cover off, while it would do what you intend, you're looking for a whole lot more work than just doing what was said above with biting the bullet and removing the valve...

Re: How to get access to check cambelt condition on a B20 engine?

Unfortunately you will have to at the very least lift the valve cover a little. The timing belt cover will come off with those 2 bolts, but it has a lip that goes up into a groove on the valve cover...

Re: What 2018 Import events are good in TX,NM,LA,OK

Also if you end up going 135mph or faster you'll need a 10pt cage and window net. So keep that in mind. When I did mine I went full 10pt because I only wanted to do it once. 10 second pass you could...

Unless you plan to drive the car on...

Re: SFWD Staging Brake Setup

No, you would not want to use the check valve. Im assuming you'd be using the CNC inline staging brake. That hand brake has an internal check valve that only activates when you pull the handle and...

re: B18C1 Build Questions. The quest for 250whp-300whp NA

If you want to hit 250-300whp, you'll need to be at least at 2.0L. So 84mm pistons, high compression. Big cams like the skunk2 Pro3s.
But there is no way you'll get close to 250 on stock internals....

Re: 12-Sec Drag Build

I agree, a ram horn is not required. You can certainly make 300hp on a cast or mini-ram. But the reason I said a ram-horn is because it makes power more efficiently than a cast or mini-ram style....

Re: 12-Sec Drag Build

400-500hp is more than needed for 12 second passes. You only need about 270-300hp for mid 12 second passes. You just need the most simple turbo setup. You can just go with a small framed turbo and a...
