Re: How many miles do you get per gallon?

After a fresh tune-up I got 38mpg with my 2000 civic EX.
With my 97 Accord V6 it was a very consistent 25mpg.
Both with mixed driving but mostly highway.

Ok, I did a tune up on my 2000 Civic EX and I went to check the transmission fluid and I noticed that the dipstick stick sits really loose in the transmission housing hole (insert joke here).
Is...

Re: Just bought an 00 Civic EX with 146K miles: What special maintenance is required

Thanks for all the info guys. I'm doing the timing belt, tensioner and water pump this weekend. It looks like an easier job than on my C27 V6.

Just bought an 00 Civic EX with 146K miles: What special maintenance is required?

Hi all
I usually post over in the Accord section; but since I totaled my 97 Accord LX V6 I bought a 2000 Civic EX. Since this is my first Vtec Honda engine is there any special maintenance I should...

Re: 97 Accord V6 EGR

I have the same car and 3000 rpm at 70mph is correct. It sounded high to me when I first got the car. My temp gauge never goes much above 1/4 either but my heater does blow nice and hot. I would...

Re: 95 ACCORD EX/V6 CRAZY TACH

Just wanted to bump this old thread because the OP described exactly the problem I had last week. I pulled the coil and found the back of it was all cracked; replaced it and everything is fine. When...

Re: Just found this site.... Looking to buy a Honda (Rick1t)

Be sure to ask if the Timing belt has been changed. All Honda engines are interference engines, meaning that the valves and the pistons cross the same plane when operating.
So if the T-belt breaks...

Re: 97 Acord convertor locks and unlocks at highway speed (linetrash75)

Check your coolant and thermostat. If your engine doesn't get up to temperature the TC won't lock. This happened to me last winter. You could be on the boarder line between warm up mode and normal...

Re: Accord V6 Reliability (sixwhip14)

I changed mine when I bought the car (@ 149K). There was a question whether it had been done or not, so I changed it. You should replace the water pump at the same time.

The V6 is an interference...

Re: Accord V6 Reliability (skunked)

I've got a 97 LX V6 Auto, 171K no problems so far. The only things I've done to the engine are, Timing Belt, Water pump, PVC Valve, and side cover gaskets.

Re: SRS Light (caverspencer)

I believe the only way to reset the SRS light (without the dealerships intervention) is to follow this.

Re: Autozone vs. Advance Auto (steerh67)

Advanced is my first choice. I like their tool rental policy. Buy the tool, use it, bring it back and get your money back. Their computers are more accurate with the part descriptions than...

Re: Brake Question (lax1089)

I would start with basic troubleshooting.

Is the fluid low?
Are there any leaks if the fluid is low?
Does the car have ABS? If so check the ABS unit for leaks.

Jack up the car to see if each...

Re: First time Accord buyer....would appreciate input on 96 & 97 models (kamaboko)

Check to see if the timing belt has been replaced. If the job was done professionally there will be a sticker on the timing belt cover or on the hood. All Honda engines are interference engines,...

Rotors are a MAJOR PAIN compared to the timing belt.
