Accord V6 Reliability
I'm looking at an 95 Accord for sale in my area that has a V6/Auto in it. I've had a couple accords with the F22/Auto that have went well over 225K miles that still pass smog and run like a champ. Those of you with the V6's, have you had the same luck? Any other issues with this motor transmission I should watch out for?
Thanks guys

Re: Accord V6 Reliability (skunked)
my wife and i have a 98 V6 EX. its got 140K on it and we have had little to no problems with it. I know that these are not the same generation of motors, but similar enough.
the only really major things we have done are:
Timing belt/H20 pump outer belts
Alternator X2
power steering pump.
oil/tranny fluid changes.
BTW: our transmission is holding up fine, i change fluid in it every other oil change

I've got a 97 LX V6 Auto, 171K no problems so far. The only things I've done to the engine are, Timing Belt, Water pump, PVC Valve, and side cover gaskets.

Re: Accord V6 Reliability (skunked)
I've also got a 97 LX V6, about 124k on it right now. I just had the oil pan gasket replaced 2 days ago. I've replaced a couple things on the car, but not much to the motor. Just time belt/water pump, plugs, wires, cap & rotor. That's it. Very reliable car.
Never had any problems with the tranny. Although, it feels like it's starting to slip a little bit so I'm going to be replacing the fluid this spring.

Re: Accord V6 Reliability (defaced8)
Hey, guys, I have a 97 accord v6 as well. I have 73k on it. Around how many miles did you change your timing belt? Does it have anything to do with age also?

Re: Accord V6 Reliability (sixwhip14)
I changed mine when I bought the car (@ 149K). There was a question whether it had been done or not, so I changed it. You should replace the water pump at the same time.
The V6 is an interference engine just like the 4cyl, so a broken time belt = $$$$$.
I think the owners manual says 90k.

Re: Accord V6 Reliability (skunked)
i don't know of any reliability issues with this motor, but i'll tell you if you do your own work save yourself the trouble and find a four cylinder. other than the old acura v6 this is one of the worst to work on IMO. and by the way these are very similar to the old acura v6. interesting.

Re: Accord V6 Reliability (JdmIam)
I ended up buying a 95 V6 4dr Accord yesterday. Supposedly it has a bad CKP sensor so I'm in the process of swapping out the sensor now
