Re: The New Header test thread

as far as cutting on the bandsaw goes, there is a piece of 1" sq tubing inside of the tube which is being cut. it has 2 bolts in the bottom that go into T nuts in the extrusion slot. when you...

Re: The New Header test thread

I have a mostly stock h22a4 and a decent 88X95 build which will be tested although i dont suspect the stock engine will like it very much

Re: The New Header test thread

i guess i just wanted to have my "everybody look at me moment" more than anything. I was hoping a couple pics would generate some discussion and i could try and predict issues/problems/shortfalls...

Re: Post pictures of your collector jigs.

something we slapped together with some scrap bits laying together. works very well. the belt sander is your friend when doing something like this to get the fitment perfect before welding though

Re: What alloy for welding a honda head?

even if they appear fully seated there is no way to know they aren't going to move after seeing such excessive localized heat. for the cost of replacing the seats compared to just a valve job i would...

Re: The New Header test thread

thank you all for the input.

in theory, if you increase cross sectional area of a flow you lower pressure. given all other things equal, 2 headers the same length with different diameter...

Re: What alloy for welding a honda head?

they use 356 alloy in their castings. Ive used 4043 filler and it seems to work well. that is a good link and probably covers everything i only skimmed it. pre-heating is your friend but i usually...

The New Header test thread

pretty straightforward, im going to make 3 nearly identical headers to test back to back to back when it comes tuning time.

I will elaborate further on my idea but first, i'm curious what others...

Re: Building a motor with optimal Rod Stroke ratio-

like mentioned before me, don't put a huge weight on the R/s ratio, almost all of our conceivable Honda builds will be well within a safe limit. from what i've seen the engine will fail via some...

Re: H22 and Skunk2 wear (again)

good thread. i worked hard on this issue too but saw pretty bad wear on the rockers and cams after only maybe 2000 miles. I ran skunk 2 valvetrain and pro 2s and was very careful during the whole...

Re: 4P H22 - 2.55L from Honda's original big block 4 cylinder

Would you say that to reach 400 the ports and chamber need to be welded? hard to tell from your pics but the piston dome looks like it is made to fit the h series chamber specifically eh? do you...

Re: Engine Break in, builders how do you do it? dyno available

the oems all break in their engines before they are released to the dealers. they put very conservative recommendations in the books because they are considering all the vehicles systems and also...

Re: Beginners blog: fabrication life progression

Great thread.

i am an engineer and I have to do it the same way man, the hard work, trail and error, redesigns and tweaks are what it takes. Software is only 1 way to get a starting point. There...

Re: best size itb size for built 300+hp h2b?

This is the best way to do it IMO also. I think the actual configuration of how you go from 4 sources into 1 and the size of the vacuum plenum effect how the setup will run.

I think anywhere from...

Re: Valve Height Micrometer

the caliper way works if your experienced with a caliper and have a good one, otherwise it becomes dodgy like mentioned.

i think you can use what you posted with like a .500" washer with good...

Re: best size itb size for built 300+hp h2b?

definitely. When you start getting into the really fine details you realize how many details there are and how many decisions to be made and it becomes clear why the people who do engines for a...

Re: best size itb size for built 300+hp h2b?

yeah cam specs are on the DDTech site. i am curious how the "stage 3" compares to the reaper. only marginal differences in numbers but maybe the profile is different. I suspect you will need some...

Re: best size itb size for built 300+hp h2b?

I would imagine it would flow better in the way that the flowbench displays a higher numerical value when tested but like Ghost mentioned, there are a LOT of examples to study. I looked closely at...

Re: best size itb size for built 300+hp h2b?

I have a very similar setup. are these the k24 13.5:1 arias pistons? they suit the hseries combustion chamber well IMO. I went with 88mm bore. I only put like 2000 miles on it but they look good...
