Re: 98 Crank Pulley Wobble [PICS]

Update:

Pulley came in the mail and got it on in a few hours. The alternator tensioning system was a far larger pain in the ass than I anticipated. Thanks for the replies.

Re: 98 Crank Pulley Wobble [PICS]

When did you get yours? I called both places and both had it marked as dealer only parts. I guess they stopped carrying them.

Re: 98 Crank Pulley Wobble [PICS]

Thanks for the reply, I didn't think it would be a good idea.

I would get one from a yard but don't have a portable impact wrench anymore. Never had any luck getting them off without one. Amazon...

98 Crank Pulley Wobble [PICS]

I got a call yesterday from the wifey. I leave work to check it out and find that the crank pulley is loose to the touch. Ok, no big deal. I tried to get a new pulley but no one carries them save...

Re: Current (2013) Exhaust Options?

I was getting ready to order this but saw the note (will not fit the 4DR Sedan model) under the title. Is there anything like this that will fit the sedan?

Re: How-To: Replace Clutch Master Cylinder

Check to make sure that the resevoir is not empty. If it is, you could try bleeding the system. If that doesn't work, I'd say it is likely one of the clutch cylinders. As suggested in this thread,...

Re: Timing belt tensioner question?

The same thing happened to me. I had to use a torch and bought myself a Dewalt electric impact wrench. I also had to go to the junkyard to get a new balancer ($25)

Re: Timing belt tensioner question?

Its what I was told by a few people to expect to have to do that and its what I had to do when I did mine. I ran the car for a few minutes, heard that there was slack in the belt. Re-adjusted the...

Re: Timing belt tensioner question?

Also, after setting up the timing, run the car for a few minutes and re-tension the belt. I'm guessing you tensioned it once and buttoned it back up?

Re: Timing belt tensioner question?

I don't think there is anyway to do it without taking the cover off. If you don't have to replace the belt, you won't have to un-do the motor mount. However you can get to the tensioner if you...

Re: Help with Cruise Control?

Re: BMW rims on 91 Hatch

In my humble opinion, I don't like that style rim. However, if it works for you, stick with it. I must say that if you do stick with it, ditching the BMW center caps is a must. Also, I don't think...

Re: AC compressor interchangeability?

There are two different compressors for our cars. If you open the hood, there is a placard on driver's side to the right of the radiator. It will tell you which one you have. Either a...

I have an D16A6 and I somehow broke my crank pulley taking it off. Does anyone know if the ZC/D16A1 and D16A6 pulleys are the same?

Re: Are these bad cracks? (pics)

Thanks. I'm going to lightly sand that area to see how far down it is or if they are just casting marks. They aren't in the block but in the top of the transmission.

I'm in the process of doing a headgasket, water pump, timing belt, etc. I was cleaning the block off and saw some cracks.
