Re: water temperature gauge install quick question

No you cant just use the stock wiring. Its unlikely that the calibration is the same. They sell in-line water hose adaptors with a threaded fitting for a sensor. If I remember right, the hoses are...

Re: Cost for Compliance Bushings

That sounds OK. They'll probably just replace the entire control arm, which costs a good $125 or more each.... plus an alignment. I'd say $400 is a good price, if not a really good price.

Re: Need head stud torque Specs asap 04 civic ex EM2 please

Are you using stockers or ARPs?
If you're using stock bolts (and you need to buy new ones, they're one time use), I think its 16-38-51 ft lbs... in 3 steps.
With ARPs, do the same, but crank them a...

Re: 2001 civic replacing engine

Its a hell of a lot easier to pull it whole. It comes out fairly easily as an assembly, and its much easier to get the engine and tranny together outside of the car. If the dealer threw a used engine...

Re: uknown underchasis x-bar????

Its not stock, and without seeing it, its impossible to figure out what its worth. If its a home made thing, probably nothing. if its not a home made one, then I can think of a few brands that made...

Re: need some good brakes

Autozone rotors (its a lump of iron, so just get the cheap ones), and axxis Ultimates have always been my brakes of choice. For the track, especially, use the cheap rotors, they cost less to replace...

Re: DC5 and EP3/EM/ES Brake Line Compatability

If you have discs all around, DC5 lines work. If you have drums in the back, then only the fronts work. The drums have a different fitting.

Re: 01-02 bad transmissions and reliability?

the automatics are craptastic no matter what.
The manuals seem to be hit or miss.... a lot of people had the synchro problem early on, or they just worked and still do. I know some people who have...

Re: Maintenance before selling

If the car passed, then just sell it. You wont recover the money you put in.
If it failed, you gotta fix it.

Re: Catalytic Converter replacement under warranty, dealer charging $731 for O2 senso

If the sensors have to be replaced with the manifold replacement then there is absolutely no labor involved (screw them in to the part you're installing anyways). The wideband is maybe $150 with...

Re: Automatic Transmission Filter for 2001 Civic LX

people add them in. I can't remember the part number but a suitable filter is available from Honda that is connected in the cooler lines that pass through the radiator. Do some searching and you'll...

Re: 01 civic engine swap with a 05 engine

you're going to have to swap the primary 02 sensor for a 2001 model sensor. The 04 and 05s have a wideband, and the wiring is not the same. Easiest solution is to change the sensor to work with the...

Re: legally boosted

depends where you live, how you do it and what you make it look like to the inspection station. If the car needs to pass an OBD scan, you need to keep that in mind when selecting your management.

Re: Crank shaft position sensor..

Well, its not an expensive fix if you DIY it. The timing belt is $20, the tensioner and water pump are both about $60.
The sensor is something right around $60 as well. If you just want to change...

Re: Crank shaft position sensor..

it seems to be very common in the early years (mostly 2001s)... the so called, Crank sensor of death code. Its a pain in the ass to change the sensor since its under the crank pulley, but its not an...

Re: Timing Belt - Mileage or Years

the 90,000 mile number is the honda specified interval for the timing belt.
A lot of people change it early because its the safe play if you're going to keep the car for a while. The cost of doing...

Re: Car Wont Start

Just remove the dust cover from the bottom of the tranny/engine mating surface. You'll be able to see almost half the flywheel. Or, as Matt said, pull the start out and look through there. If you...

Re: how can i get my civic to throw a cel?

I'm confused here. You want the CEL to come on? Just unplug the primary O2 sensor. Instant CEL.
Like everyone else said... if you need to read a code, get an OBDII scanner. Autozone will pull codes...

Re: Replacing stripped oil pan

I think its 28 lb ft, but the bolts will bottom out. You need to go around the pan a couple times, even with a torque wrench, to make sure the pressure is evenly applied around the mating surface.
