Use the cable - just remove the electronic VSS from the transmission, and insert the cable housing. Simple as that, use your stock cluster.

Probably the TPS wiring, did you swap the outside wires on it? If you didn't it will read backwards.
The main relay isn't your problem.

So - here's his setup that he sent me in email:
Si harness repaired - we changed the injector clips to OBD1, block-off plug and fan switch wiring too.
He had a Locash ECU Jumper and distributor...

Your ECU should throw a code if VTEC isn't engaging, which is certainly not if you can't rev past 7500.

You mean you converted the DX harness using Si plugs right? You can't use an SI engine harness on a DX chassis without modification to the chassis harness (or using an Si chassis harness too)

The gearing can only be fixed by replacing the transmission. DX/HF trannys are long, yeah you're going to be at a low rpm at a higher speed, thats how "long" gear ratios are.
