Help!! Failed Emissions (VA)
Hey everyone, I took my car to a shop today to get an emissions test done. I failed the test, and I have gotten my car inspected there as well 2 months prior.
So here is my setup as far as emissions is concerned; I have a JDM F22B DOHC swap, ebay intake, ebay headers, Carsound Cat, Apex-i Dunk exhaust. Changed the oil not to long ago, and the swap was done in 2003, spark plugs and wires were changed then. I also passed at another place, but don't remember where it was located, so I took it to this place which did my inspection.
Heres the dilema, the print-out they gave me said (N/A) across the whole chart. Then it said (Invalid) under the (reading) section. The man at the counter said they needed run a special emissions test to locate the problem of invaild readings. This test costs $147.00!! , I say bullshit...He also said the reason I might of failed is because of my exhaust, but he's not positive.
My question is, did they fail me because my aftermarket exhaust? Should I take it somewhere else? Someone help me out here!!

Thanks helicopter201, I started my car this morning and left it running while I was showering and eating breakfast...(wasting GAS!!! AHHH!!!). Anyways I took it to another place, (Craven Tires) and I passed without any problems. The only flaw is I had to wait 45 minutes but that didn't bother me. I would advise anyone going for emissions testing to warm there vehicle up prior to getting it tested.
Now for the other place...I don't think I will be returning even if it was because my car wasn't warmed up. Others beware off the "Special Emissions Test" , I did spend $56 total on two different tests, but that out weighs the $147 by a mile...You've been warned!!

Well, if you own the vehicle for more then 2 years you will need to do an emissions test, but they will also ask you to do it when you renew your vehicle regristration.
Yes, I have gone through inspections yearly but the emissions is determined by the state and DMV record of your vehicle. If you haven't gone through emissions test and plan on keeping your car you will eventually.

Re: Help!! Failed Emissions (h22mark)
mark whats up man its johnny
try taking it somewhere else I would tell you to take it to manassas but I know thats kinda far for you. I took mine to bp gas station off of 66 but it was just inspection and I already failed cuz I had the test pipe on and I did it at a different place. And the guy passed me even though I had the rejection sticker from the test pipe and I didnt even bother switching. I was really lucky but you shouldnt have a problem passing emissions cuz you got the cat.
