Default O2 Sensor/running rich?

working on son's 88 civic DX 1.5 DPFI with a header on it
just replaced tandem control valve solenoid
and getting a code 1
I also put in new O2 sensor and still get code 1
check engine light comes on after a few miles down the highway
other than that it runs fine.
Any suggestions ?

Ok put a new O2 sensor in drove car about 10 miles a CEL popped on
Code 1 shows up still Could I possibly be reading codes wrong?
Wouldnt be no problem but son is supposed to be leaving in a week to go 300 miles away for summer so wife wont let car go until this is fixed.

tried unplugging intake-air-temperature sensor to see if I was getting code 10 instead of code 1 that has 10 blinks.
I am only getting 1 blink when light comes on
I soldered wires together instead of the metal crimp still no luck
The light seems to come on after a few miles at highway speed
Thanks

I wouldnt worry too much if its the o2 sensor. Whats gonna happen is when you start your car you run open loop. This means the PCM does not recieve information from your o2 sensor untill youve reached operating temp. When you do if something is off you should throw a MIL which you are. If it is the o2 sensor and the PCM is getting a bad reading it will revert to a preprogramed fuel trim so you dont run extremely rich or lean. This shouldnt cause the car to run rough. Check your code again and if that doesnt help go to hondatech.info click on auto on the left side of the page then manuals in the middle of the page and the desired vehicle. This is an official Honda service manual you can download for free. Its about 2000 pages but its got the information you need.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by soulpwr &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">is it a long blink or a short one?</TD></TR></TABLE>

its obd-0 so its one short blink

Aslo that might not be related much but i had a a code one come on when my tming was a tooth off and i was getting to much air, so it woudl happen few miles down the high way.
